ATE Conference meeting held at Taffys Restaurant at 11:30am Monday April 17th 2000.
Present: Glenn Wells, Keith Larson, Paul Olson, Damon Oran, Doug Boone, Andy Kowalewski
Apologies: None
Technical stuff:
The guy from Agilent is not returning calls so it looks like a Cerprobe employee will need to do Session 7.
The workbook will be ready for printing
soon. Doug will pass on the name of a local printer who can do a good job cheap. We need about a week to finalise the printing.
Barry Hurley is ok for doing Session 9 on Friday afternoon.
Rick
Hartley has a good presentation on PCB materials. Andy will approach him about using his material, and sound him out about presenting it as well if the material is suitable.
Marketing stuff:
Damon has brought home the bacon, if he doesn't mind me making a horribly non-kosher joke at his expense.
Sponsorships have been almost totally confirmed: Thursday breakfast - CAD Design Software
Thursday first break - Circuit Technology (Keith) Thursday lunch - Cadence Thursday second break - Valor (Damon) Thursday Open bar - DDI (Barry Hurley) Thursday dinner - Mentor
Friday breakfast - ??? Friday first break - Plano CAD (Doug) Friday lunch - Zuken Friday second break - Velie Circuits
Valor and Plano CAD might drop their sponsorships if others come along.
DPS is also interested in a sponsorship. Damon will call David McGavin (?) at (972) 417 7642
As a result of this, Andy will write up a letter thanking each sponsor and giving them instructions about
posting the cheques. Andy will work with Damon to make this happen.
Most sponsorships are fixed and if the event cost goes over that the Chapter will foot the difference. Some sponsors however have
asked Damon to get back to them if the cost goes over their committment. That will be useful if we need it.
Each sponsor will get the use of a display table without additional cost.
Damon and Doug
will get their mailing lists to Andy for a mailout. Damon will meet with Andy tomorrow (Tuesday) to finalise mailout names.
Woody is going to give Andy a name at Motorola and at Dallas Semiconductor for a
call about the conference.
Glenn suggested that there are some companies that may be willing to sponsor their customers. That's a good idea, and we need to know who might be willing to do that.
Keith will forward the brochure file (two versions - one with graphics and one without) for us to use as our own emailout.
Andy will get in touch with the Houston and Austin Chapters about getting them
to mail out to their members.
Paul is going to mail out the brochure file to the total email listing we have.
Andy will post a copy of the printed brochure to each of our members.
Venue stuff:
Damon is ok for using his projector. Barry Hurley also has one we can use if it's needed.
Keith will check with hotel about cost of screens for the projector and the cost of hiring
the sound system. Damon and Doug may be interested in buying a sound system and letting the Chapter hire it back for a nominal fee whenever it's needed.
It is very important to make sure we let as many
people as ppssible know about the Conference and get them signed up as soon as possible. To that end, we need to make sure we get our telephone call lists done, and that we all speak to as
many likely people as possible.
Glenn suggested that we draw a line in the sand just before the conference and as our costs are almost covered by sponsorships, we can drag in any number of attendees to
make our registrations look good. That's a good idea and we'll discuss it further at a later meeting.
Damon thought that Valor would be willing to consider sponsoring scholarships to
the conference. That's a good idea too if we need to use it.
The brochure printing has cost considerably more than we allowed for, but they look great. $2200 not so well spent but we should be ok.
Andy and Glenn will each bring a camera to the conference.
Keith and one other person will man the registration desk on the morning of the conference.
Damon will get logos from the sponsoring companies. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Things since:
No responsibility was allocated to getting the signage done. Andy will keep an eye on that.
Doug won't be sponsoring our Chapter meeting at Taffys on May 16th. He'll sponsor the one after that.
The offer of putting our conference proceedings on CDROM by InfoCast wasn't
discussed-we can resolve that next week.
Doug has given us the printer details: Digital Document Services, Jennifer Lowry, 972-931-8000, ddsep@airmail.net, 3223 Commander Drive, Carrollton, TX 75006 is
able to print from your electronic formatted data for very low cost. multiple optional bindings available.
Someone should get her bid on our workbook/seminar manual. - Keith?
+++++++++++++++
Cheers
