Meeting held at Taffys Restaurant, April 6th, 2000 at 11:30am

Present: Glenn, Dwight, Doug, Keith and Andy

Apologies from Paul Olson

Next Chapter meeting is on Tuesday, May 16th. We're trying to confirm our usual
Texans room, but we may reserve Taffys just in case Texans is not available that
night.

Last meeting was very poorly attended because of big storms (we hope that's the
reason) so we are going to show the same "Component ID" video at our next
meeting. It has a Starship Enterprise theme and is reasonably entertaining.

Andy has not been able to get a response from Lee Ritchey about his presentation
on May 16th, apart from the original email on March 1st where Lee said he would
be delighted to do it. I would have liked to advertise a topic for him to speak
on but until I can talk to him, we can just advertise that Lee will be speaking.
If for some reason Lee can't do it, Andy will present his "CAD Library" topic
and Glenn will do his "GD&T" topic.

Doug had sponsored our food last meeting but because it was so poorly attended,
we'll carry the can for that and Doug will sponsor the food for our next
meeting. Thank you again Doug.

We discussed the possibility of having a Palm Pilot at around $150 as a door
prize for our next meeting. We felt that with Lee Ritchey speaking this may not
be required. We'll certainly keep the idea for the future.

Glenn has a presentation on assembly issues seen from the designer's point of
view which was very popular in San Jose. It would be a very good presentation to
make at a contract assembly house on a Saturday or maybe a mid-week evening, and
is something to keep in mind for the future.

Barry Hurley also has a very good presentation on microvias which was popular
there too - we can probably ask Barry to present that sometime as well.

The ATE Conference is going ahead well, but time is running out. We have missed
some advertising deadlines and we need to get the word out. Next Monday's ATE
Conference meeting will try and iron out some of the more pressing issues.

Our membership drive has slowed down, mainly through lack of resources. Andy
will compile a list of current members and distribute it to Exec members to do a
phone up for our next Chapter meeting. We can also talk to each member about the
ATE Conference at the same time. Doug has offered to have his secretary call
more than his equal share - thank you Doug that will help a lot.

Glenn will advertise our Chapter meeting and maybe the ATE Conference at his
Thursday PCB class. We should also talk to Eastfield College to get them to do
the same. Andy will follow that up.

Pete Profilet of TI was heard to say that he has never received anything about
our ATE Conference - Andy will get the flyer to him by email, and to Mike
Korson.

We still haven't seen anything about getting our Chapter into the TI magazine.
Glenn is going to take some of our ATE brochures and have a friend of his put
them on various strategic places around the TI campus. That should help also.

At our May 16th meeting, we have decided to mention that we have a
Secretary/Treasurer vacancy on our Executive and on the Board after Krista left,
and that we are looking for helpers. In the meantime, things are running
reasonably well though more hands are always useful.

We also mentioned elections towards the end of this year - we need to keep our
eyes open for people who may be willing to help.

Dwight mentioned a guy called Mike King who has written books and done
presentations on EMC/EMI issues. He is in San Jose and may be good to have as a
presenter sometime. Does anyone know where to get in touch with him?

Dwight also mentioned a group in Tulsa associated with a friend who may be
interested in our Chapter meetings or the ATE Conference. Dwight will try to get
in touch with Curtis Brown to see whether they are willing to attend either or
both.

Seems a 'Dan Delmont' was at our January meeting and should be chased up to
become a member. Does anyone know how to get in touch with him?

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Other things I'd like to mention now but weren't discussed at the meeting:-

I haven't made any progress on the member survey.

I haven't made any progress on our "PCB Project"

Who will organise the food for our Chapter meeting, and where will we get it?
There was a feeling that we paid too much for what we got from Taffys delivered
to Texans at our last meeting, though the quality of the sandwiches was very
good. (Even into the fifth day - there was a lot left over :-)

Cheers
